The piece donated here for the benefit auction is entitled “Sex Sea” dated 2019. This work is part of a large scale tryptic entitled “Nothing Random Access Memory” which takes a look at the traumatic and transcendent tendencies in our culture simultaneously through the telescope of our collective myths and the microscopes of personal revelations. This work has been produced through the generous support of the Rockefeller and the Guggenheim Foundations. The work is composed two wooden crosses (each 16” high by 15” wide) mounted on the wall at eye level next to each other with approximately 3” to 4” inches between them. The work is composed of large scale individual Scrabble pieces.
Julia Heyward has a BFA in painting and photography and a MFA in Electronic Arts. She has worked in time based medias including, video, performance and interactive technologies as well as the visual arts.
