PROVENANCE: Courtesy of the Artist
This work is from the series “All the Same but Different” where Kuwayama explores the
relationship of our perceptions of “sameness” and “difference” and what exists in
the space in between. The works also relate in space to each other, whether all
in a line or in a grid. This particular piece was conceived in a dream space.
Sono Kuwayama works with the ideas of space in its myriad forms (empty space, relational space, holding space, imaginary space, etc). She has worked as an artist for over 30 years in New York City, where she lives and has a studio.
