Charlotte Fox was born in 1994 in Brooklyn, New York and graduated with a BFA from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2016 before returning to Brooklyn to continue her practice. Working predominantly with oil paint, Charlotte’s work playfully and humorously navigates experiences of repulsion and attraction and how they might occur simultaneously. Her paintings explore themes of sexuality and fantasy, depicted through a mixture of fragmented, figurative, realism and cartoonish representation. Her process uses several visual references such as personal photos, vintage porn, old films and cartoons, which are later digitally manipulated together before being painted in oil. She has shown in group shows in New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and Seoul, with her most recent show being “ OOPS (One Outstanding Person Show) : The Brain Maps of Charlotte Fox,” online with Kenny Schachter in 2020
